Abstract (from GR)
Libby Garrett is addicted to Owen Jackson's hot lovin'. But the sexy, popular college basketball player doesn't appreciate all of Libby's awesomeness. He refuses to be exclusive or even admit to people that they're dating. The relationship is ruining Libby and she's the only one who can't see it.
When Libby's behavior spirals completely out of control, her best friend Avery Shaw and the rest of the Science Squad stage an intervention hoping to cure Libby of her harmful Owen addiction. They put her through her very own Twelve Step program—Owen's Anonymous—and recruit the help of a sexy, broody, hard as nails coffee man to be her official sponsor.
...
Adam Koepp has watched Libby Garrett for years. How could he not notice the sassy girl with the purple skateboard and helmet plastered with cat stickers? But in all the years he's crushed on her, Libby has failed to take notice of him. Why would she when he was just a nobody high school drop out who served her apple cider several times a week? Especially when she was hooking up with a guy like Owen Jackson—a guy with a college scholarship and more abs than Kyle Hamilton.
Adam finally gets the chance to meet Libby when his co-worker Avery Shaw recruits him to take Libby on the journey of a lifetime. With his ability to play Bad Cop and his experience with the Twelve Step program he's the perfect candidate to be Libby's sponsor. But will he be able to keep his personal feelings out of the matter and really help her the way she needs? And will Libby hate him when he forces her to take an honest look at herself?
Review
The Libby Garet Intervention is free sequel of The Avery Shaw Experiment. You can read it separately, but be ready that in Libby there is Avery and her geek team in a bit important role, also some events are mentioned. But I don't thik they're esentially for understanding.
The storyline is mainly about Libby and her relationship with Owen, which change Libby's behaving to her friends. She doesn't care about them as she used to, and when the cup of their patient is broken they decided to let her know about their feelings. Or at least the main initiator is Libby's best friend Avery, who had been witness to Libby's last fault. Adam- Avery's boss, who also withnessed the Libby's last escapade, came with idea and Avery diceded to realize it with his help. And the story of likeing ourself in a way we are can start.
I didn't know him, and half the time I didn¨t even like him, but the thought of letting him down right now was too much. "Easier said than done," I muttered, turning my eyes to the half -pipe where the first finalist was makin his descent.
Beggining is a bit unKelly's, but still has her easy reading style. Main character as usually has good sense of humor (at least for me), so during the book you'll be smile a lot. But I may say that they are a bit more complicated than I'm used to from the author.
There are lot's of characters which I immediately liked e.g. Kate- Adam's sister, Josiah- Adam's boss or Libby's father. Some of them is really difficult not to like.
"As my spiritual guide in this journey, and the future restorer of my sanity, I, Elizabeth Ruby Garett, have made a decision to turn my will and my life over to the care of my Higher Power as I understan it- again, that would be you."
The most important character overall is Adam. He has a history, which makes his perosnality. But he also has his own feelings. He doesn't care to much what others thinking about him (ok it has borders), he's not a shallow. But kind of he is too "good" person and sometimes it hurts him.
He was such a different guy than anyone I'd ever met. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't understand him. He was a cunundrum. An intriguing, sexy, sometimes-annoying-but-still-very-likable mystery
This is not difficult reading for thinking and analyzing everything, it's more for relaxing whiles. So don't expect somethin big and unexpected happening. Even if there can be few things which can surprice you.
I also had the feeling, that this book is for a little bit older peple than the Avery, so if you think Avery is too childish for you, you may feel more satisfied with Libby.
In the end I evaluate the book with 75 %. Nice to read, get nice story and relax.
